en.Wedoany.com Reported - Keen AI and the UK's National Grid have received funding to develop an artificial intelligence sharing system for grid asset management.

After completing the exploration phase, the Foundation Shared Model Operations (FoSMo) project has been awarded an Alpha award of £355,985 from the UK's Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) Strategic Innovation Fund. Institutions participating in the project include National Grid, SP Energy Networks, SSEN Transmission, UK Power Networks, and SP Electricity North West.
FoSMo aims to create a universal AI model that analyzes visual data of grid assets using anonymized data from participating operators. Keen AI will develop, maintain, and host these models in the UK. If all participating operators adopt the system, it could save the industry approximately £22.6 million over five years starting from 2027. Improved asset monitoring could prevent around 85,000 customer interruptions and 5.2 million minutes of power loss annually.
The UK is investing tens of billions of pounds into the grid. Amjad Karim, founder and CEO of Keen AI, stated that when every major network operator shares their knowledge of assets, the result is far more powerful than anything any single entity could build alone. Matthew Ward, Innovation Engineer at National Grid Electricity Transmission, noted that AI tools can deliver significant value in enhancing operational insights and efficiency. By pooling data and expertise, the model has the potential to support grid upgrades while generating substantial cost savings across the industry.
