en.Wedoany.com Reported - Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has signed a 10-year maritime services contract with Southern Energy S.A. to support the Southern Energy FLNG project, marking APSEZ's first entry into the South American market.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has secured a 10-year maritime services contract for the Southern Energy FLNG project in Argentina.

The contract was awarded to APSEZ's sub-subsidiary, Adani Harbour International FZCO, through its 51:49 joint venture with Argentina's Meridian Group, following a global competitive tender by Southern Energy S.A.

The scope of services covers end-to-end maritime support, including tugboat operations for LNG carriers, offshore logistics and supply support, and crew transfer services.

The contract will be executed through the joint venture Meridian Transportes Marítimos S.A., utilizing four high-specification tugboats, one anchor handling tug supply vessel, and one crew boat.

The Southern Energy FLNG project is being developed by SESA, a joint venture between Golar LNG and Pan American Energy. The project is located in the San Matías Gulf, Río Negro Province, Argentina.

The project will liquefy natural gas from the General San Martin pipeline aboard the Hilli Episeyo floating liquefaction vessel. Commercial operations are expected to commence in September 2027. In its first phase, the project will produce 2.45 million tonnes of LNG annually, equivalent to approximately 28 cargoes per year, making it Argentina's first operational LNG export project.

Argentina is emerging as a significant new LNG supply source, with agreements already in place to support exports of up to 10 million tonnes of LNG per year to India starting in 2027. This contract positions APSEZ at the intersection of this increasingly strategic new bilateral energy trade corridor.

Ashwani Gupta, CEO of APSEZ, stated that the contract demonstrates the company's growing capability to support large-scale energy infrastructure projects across geographies, creating reliable maritime ecosystems through marine operations in 12 countries and strong local partnerships, thereby opening new energy trade corridors and enhancing long-term supply resilience.
