en.Wedoany.com Reported - Boeing accelerated its delivery pace to 60 aircraft in May, higher than any other month this year, but net new orders stood at just 22.

Lufthansa 787

The company has been steadily ramping up production rates, stating on May 27 that it had increased output at its 737 assembly plant in Renton to 47 aircraft per month, up from the previous 42.

The 60 aircraft delivered by Boeing last month included 51 737 Max (with Southwest Airlines receiving 7), 1 military aircraft based on the 737NG, 6 787s, 1 767 freighter, and 1 777F.

Total orders in May were 27: Lufthansa ordered 10 787s, Tui Travel Aviation Finance signed for 1 737 Max, and unnamed customers ordered 2 737 Max and 14 737NG.

Boeing did not disclose details of the 737NG transaction, but the U.S. Air Force said in March it had awarded the manufacturer a $2.3 billion contract to procure an undisclosed number of E-7 Wedgetail airborne early warning and control aircraft, which are based on the 737-700. Boeing also produces the P-8 maritime surveillance aircraft based on the 737-800.

Customers canceled 16 737 Max orders last month: South Korea's Jeju Air canceled 8, Aviation Capital Group canceled 6, and BOC Aviation and Air Europa each canceled 1.

Additionally, in May, Boeing moved 11 aircraft from the accounting bucket for deals not expected to close into the backlog, indicating it now expects these transactions to materialize. This adjustment resulted in Boeing having 22 net new orders for the month.

As of the end of May, Boeing's backlog stood at 6,178 aircraft, down from 6,216 at the end of April.

In the first five months of 2025, Boeing secured 295 net orders and delivered 250 aircraft—delivery volumes higher than the first five months of any year this decade.
