en.Wedoany.com Reported - Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (TIAC) in Taiwan plans to upgrade its communication infrastructure by adopting Nokia's IP/MPLS (Internet Protocol/Multi-Protocol Label Switching) solution to enhance reliability and operational efficiency.

Taoyuan Airport to upgrade network for unified operational services

This upgrade aims to unify voice, data, and video communications, as well as operational technology services such as self-service check-in kiosks, baggage handling systems, Wi-Fi, and closed-circuit television, on a single network infrastructure. The solution will replace and expand existing systems in Terminals 1 and 2 to enhance airport security and service reliability. Nokia's solution includes the 7750 Service Router, 7250 Interconnect Router, and 7210 Service Access System, with its network services platform helping TIAC automate and simplify operations. By integrating these systems, TIAC will streamline system management, helping to reduce complexity and costs. The end-to-end network, service, and security management platform will provide TIAC with clearer visibility into network performance and health, thereby supporting efficient airport operations.

Stuart Hendry, Vice President of Enterprise Sales for Network Infrastructure in Asia Pacific at Nokia, stated that this IP/MPLS solution will help Taoyuan International Airport enhance security and operational efficiency while reducing energy consumption. HwaCom Systems, as Nokia's local implementation and integration partner, supports this project. TIAC is the busiest airport in Taiwan, handling nearly 45 million passengers in 2024. To meet growing passenger and cargo demand, TIAC is developing Terminal 3, which is expected to begin operations in 2027.
