en.Wedoany.com Reported - EDF Renewables North America has signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Masdar for the electricity generated by the BigBeau solar-plus-storage project located in Kern County, California, USA.

The agreement covers all electricity produced by the BigBeau facility, which includes a 128 MWac solar installation paired with a 40 MW/160 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

The BigBeau facility has been operational since December 2022. Under the newly signed contract, the project will begin supplying power to Southern California Edison (SCE) starting February 1, 2026.

At full capacity, the BigBeau project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 315,000 tons annually.

The project is part of a broader collaboration between EDF Renewables and Masdar. Together, the two companies have developed seven renewable energy sites in the United States, with a total capacity of 1.1 GW. With over 35 years of industry experience, EDF Renewables North America has developed 26 GW of wind, solar, and energy storage projects, spanning from large-scale renewable energy projects to electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Jacqueline de Fresart, Director of Power Marketing at EDF Renewables North America, stated that the company is very pleased to support Southern California Edison's clean energy goals and provide its customers with reliable and efficient energy through the operational BigBeau project. She looks forward to further collaboration with SCE and anticipates more opportunities for cooperation in the future.

Masdar has been operating in the United States since 2019 and has invested billions of dollars in the country. The company plans to develop up to 25 GW of projects in the U.S. over the next decade. Dustin Priemer, Director of Asset Management for the Americas at Masdar, said the agreement is part of Masdar's growing portfolio in the United States, reflecting the company's focus on expanding reliable utility-scale clean electricity. He expressed gratitude for the growing partnership with Southern California Edison and their shared commitment to investing in new generation capacity to meet California's increasing energy demand.
