en.Wedoany.com Reported - Anglo Asian Mining has commissioned Worley Europe, a subsidiary of the Worley Group, to conduct feasibility studies for its Xarxar and Garadag deposits in Azerbaijan.

This commission marks a new phase in the evaluation of copper heap leach processing and solvent extraction-electrowinning technology for the Xarxar and Garadag deposits, a process that enables on-site copper metal production without the need to export copper concentrate for smelting and refining. The feasibility studies for the Xarxar and Garadag deposits are scheduled for completion in mid-2027 and the first half of 2028, respectively.

This is the first time Anglo Asian Mining or any other entity has proposed directly producing copper metal within Azerbaijan. In addition to the feasibility studies, Anglo Asian Mining has planned extensive drilling programs for 2026 and 2027, totaling approximately 90,000 meters. Of this, 55,000 meters are for exploration and 35,000 meters to support the feasibility studies. Drilling at Xarxar has already commenced using two rigs; exploration at Garadag is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026.

Exploration efforts will focus on identifying extensions of the Xarxar, Garadag, and adjacent areas, while continuing drilling in the Gedebek contract area and exploring potential extensions of the Demirli and Demirli South mines. Additionally, underground drilling is underway at Gilar to investigate the upper and deeper strata of the deposit.

Stephen Westhead, Vice President of Anglo Asian Mining, stated that the company's license area still holds significant mineral discovery potential, and the exploration program has historically been very successful. The company has a clear roadmap for transitioning into a mid-tier, multi-asset copper and gold producer, and these initiatives will ensure sustained growth and value creation for shareholders.

Drilling for the feasibility studies will include various assessment forms, such as geological infill drilling for updated mineral resource estimates, as well as geotechnical, hydrogeological, metallurgical, and condemnation drilling. The planned work involves approximately 10,000 meters at Xarxar and about 25,000 meters at Garadag.
