en.Wedoany.com Reported - Samsung Electronics has officially confirmed that its native messaging app, Samsung Messages, will end service in July 2026, and continues to guide users to migrate to Google Messages.
Samsung has been gradually phasing out the app since 2024. That year, the company did not pre-install Samsung Messages on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 models, and sent notifications to users encouraging them to switch to Google Messages. In February 2025, Samsung announced the impending termination of the app, citing its lack of support for the RCS protocol, while Google Messages offers a better experience. In April of the same year, Samsung finally set the service end date as July 2026, again advising users to switch to Google's messaging app.

For users who rely on Samsung Messages, migrating to Google Messages is relatively straightforward. Users need to ensure that their messages are stored locally on the phone or backed up to Samsung Cloud, then set Google Messages as the default messaging app, and the system will automatically migrate conversation history. If messages do not appear after migration, the issue can be resolved by restarting the phone or updating Google Messages and Carrier Services via the Google Play Store.
