en.Wedoany.com Reported - Social Bite has reopened its modular housing village in Edinburgh, increasing the number of homes from 10 to 16, specifically designed to provide an alternative to traditional accommodation for homeless individuals. The project utilizes modular homes on disused land to address the housing crisis, and this relocation to a site with convenient access to green spaces demonstrates the charity's practical approach to housing.

Last month, the charity, in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council and The Salvation Army, opened another village in Rutherglen, providing housing for 15 people. Social Bite founder Josh Littlejohn stated that the village model is not just about providing shelter, but also about building a supportive community and restoring hope and dignity. He described the new grant project at Waterfront Village as a true flagship of the model, setting an example for differentiated homeless accommodation.
The village will continue to operate in collaboration with the homeless charity Cyrenians, with six new prefabricated homes added and the original 10 homes renovated. The facility will provide shelter for 16 homeless individuals who may have previously lived in B&Bs, temporary accommodation, sofa surfing, sleeping on the streets, or other forms of homelessness. Six new residents will each receive keys to a fully equipped home with an independent kitchenette, bathroom, and living space; the other 10 homes will be used by residents relocated from the original site and volunteers.
