Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Calls for 2,310 Additional Telecom Towers to Expand Coverage

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has directed telecom operators to accelerate the expansion of mobile network coverage across the state, with a focus on remote and underserved areas.

During a review meeting with representatives of major telecom service providers, officials reported that Andhra Pradesh currently operates 30,694 mobile towers and requires an additional 2,310 towers to achieve comprehensive network coverage.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening communication infrastructure, emphasizing that the priority is to extend telecom services to the most remote villages to achieve last-mile connectivity. He assured operators of the state government's support in constructing telecom towers and urged them to explore the possibility of completing the proposed deployment within 100 days. He also directed officials to identify all uncovered areas and provide detailed information to telecom companies.

Additionally, the Chief Minister noted that an advanced fiber optic communication network is being developed in the greenfield capital city of Amaravati, which will provide fiber connectivity to every household while minimizing repeated road excavation. According to officials, Andhra Pradesh currently has nearly 170,000 kilometers of fiber optic network and over 2.8 million broadband connections.

The Chief Minister also urged telecom operators to collaborate with the state government to enhance digital literacy among mobile users and support the delivery of digital services across the state.
