en.Wedoany.com Reported - Enel Green Power's 330 MW Impofu wind cluster in South Africa has fully entered commercial operation, marking the latest development in the country's rapidly expanding private power trading market.

The project supplies renewable electricity to Sasol and Air Liquide under long-term power purchase agreements. This model reflects the growing role of the private renewable industry in supporting industrial decarbonization and energy security.
Located in the Eastern Cape Province, the project consists of three 110 MW wind farms (Impofu North, Impofu East, and Impofu West) and 116 km of 132 kV transmission facilities. Among them, Impofu North entered commercial operation first in 2024, while Impofu East and Impofu West were connected to the grid in May and June 2026, respectively.
Sarushen Pillay, Executive Vice President of Business Building, Strategy, and Technology at Sasol Limited, stated that the 330 MW Impofu wind cluster is a key step toward the company's goal of securing up to 2 GW of renewable energy by 2030. With the cluster in operation, Sasol's total installed renewable energy capacity online has exceeded 500 MW, with an additional 700 MW under construction.
The project also advances Air Liquide's decarbonization efforts at its Secunda plant, with the company aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 30% to 40% by 2031.
