en.Wedoany.com Reported - Meta plans to launch a new version of the Muse Spark model, which features significant improvements in coding and agent capabilities. Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer Alexandr Wang stated that this update aims to narrow the gap with competing AI platforms and expand the company's enterprise AI vision.

Wang posted on X platform: "Our next-generation Muse Spark update is coming soon. There will be major improvements in coding and agent capabilities to be more competitive with other leading models." This move aims to clarify comments made by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during an all-hands meeting regarding the slow progress of AI agents.
According to Business Insider, citing anonymous sources, at the same all-hands meeting, Wang stated that the next Muse Spark update, codenamed Watermelon, has computational demands far exceeding the previous generation and has caught up with OpenAI's flagship model GPT 5.5.
Pareekh Jain, Chief Analyst at Pareekh Consulting, believes that Watermelon's enhanced coding and agent capabilities could benefit enterprises. Jain said: "A powerful Meta model will increase competition, lower AI costs, and provide enterprises with an alternative to OpenAI and Anthropic." He added: "If offered as an open-weight or low-cost model, it could make AI coding assistants more affordable while improving data control and reducing vendor lock-in." This analysis points to a broader shift in enterprise software development: the widespread adoption of AI coding assistants is coinciding with rising cost and availability pressures, with GPU shortages, high model licensing fees, and inference costs making access to the most powerful coding models increasingly expensive.
The timing of the Muse Spark update, along with Meta's recent acquisitions (including efforts to acquire Manus), has sparked speculation that Meta may launch its own AI-assisted application development platform or vibe coding tool. Charlie Dai, Principal Analyst at Forrester, said: "It appears that, especially through these updates, Meta wants to go beyond foundational models to become a platform for building AI-native applications and agents." Dai added: "Although the status of Manus remains uncertain due to alleged regulatory challenges, initiatives like Pocket (though consumer-facing) indicate Meta's intent to lower the barrier to creating AI-native software. However, the more significant opportunity lies in enterprise adoption: enabling business users to build workflow automation, agents, and lightweight applications with less technical expertise." The analyst's comments also align with Meta's broader push into the enterprise AI market. Meta is reportedly developing plans for a new cloud infrastructure business line, which would sell AI computing power and model access.
However, analysts also warned that enterprise adoption may not be easy for Meta. Dai said: "Meta must demonstrate superior real-world coding quality, reliable agent execution, robust security and governance, and a vibrant developer ecosystem." He added: "Furthermore, outside North America, geopolitical and regulatory factors are increasingly influencing model selection and creating opportunities for alternatives. Meta needs compelling customer outcomes, strong local partnerships, and continuous innovation that resonates with developers and enterprises." According to Wang, the new model will be launched soon via Meta AI and new APIs.
