en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 7, United Solar Holding advanced financing arrangements for its polysilicon project in Oman's Sohar Free Zone and secured the final tranche of investment funds. The polysilicon project has a total investment of approximately $1.6 billion, with the latest funding including a $50 million equity investment from the International Finance Corporation and up to $200 million in loan support. United Solar had previously completed financial closure for the project in January, and with this additional funding, the project's capital arrangements have been further solidified.

The polysilicon project plans to build production facilities with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons of polysilicon, with products serving the solar module manufacturing supply chain. According to the project developer, once completed, the plant can support an annual production capacity of up to approximately 40 GW of solar modules. For Oman, the polysilicon project not only represents a manufacturing investment but is also related to the upstream material supply of the photovoltaic industry chain, potentially enhancing local participation in the new energy manufacturing sector.

Part of the funding for the polysilicon project comes from Future Fund Oman under the Oman Investment Authority, with approximately $260 million provided by United Solar's largest shareholder. The International Finance Corporation arranged and mobilized over 30% of the capital in the overall financing. Following the completion of this round of polysilicon project financing, the focus will shift to plant construction, equipment procurement, process system installation, and production preparation. The actual progress of the project will still need to be observed based on construction timelines, supply chain deliveries, and product sales arrangements.
