en.Wedoany.com Reported - Australia's Alkane Resources Limited (ASX: ALK; TSX: ALK; OTCQX: ALKRY) has announced the latest positive results from recent infill and extension drilling at its Björkdal Gold Mine in Sweden, with the East Extension zone returning grades up to 86.1 g/t gold and setting a new drilling depth record for the mine. Since the company's previous announcement (October 15, 2025), drilling has completed an additional 29 diamond drill holes totaling 15,568 meters, targeting the East Extension and North Extension zones. Drilling is being conducted in a phased, rolling approach, improving understanding of vein geometry and grade-controlling structures. High-grade mineralization in the East Extension zone has extended to a depth of 762 meters below surface, the deepest intercept ever recorded at the Björkdal mine. A total of 169 ore-grade intercepts were identified in the East Extension zone, with highlights including: hole MU25-030 returning 86.1 g/t gold over 1.25 meters (true width 0.80 meters); hole MU25-022 returning 81.3 g/t gold over 4.40 meters (true width 2.20 meters); hole MU26-005 returning 78.3 g/t gold over 0.30 meters (true width 0.21 meters); and hole MU25-011 returning 39.3 g/t gold over 0.50 meters (true width 0.41 meters). A total of 68 ore-grade intercepts were identified in the North Extension zone, with highlights including: hole MU26-002 returning 31.5 g/t gold over 0.85 meters (true width 0.22 meters); hole MU25-027 returning 25.2 g/t gold over 0.60 meters (true width 0.42 meters); hole MU25-016 returning 17.1 g/t gold over 0.80 meters (true width 0.40 meters); and hole MU25-032 returning 15.4 g/t gold over 4.00 meters (true width 1.37 meters). The East Extension zone also yielded the deepest intercept, with hole MU25-021 returning 3.5 g/t gold over 3.20 meters (true width 2.45 meters) at -976 RL (-762 meters elevation).
Alkane Managing Director and CEO Nic Earner stated that the positive results indicate the mineralized system remains strong and open at depth, and these results, together with the new resource at Storheden, enhance the company's confidence in the potential for production growth and long-term mine life. The Björkdal Gold Mine is located in the Skellefte Belt in northern Sweden and is 100% owned by Alkane Resources. Since commencing production in 1988, the mine has produced approximately 1.69 million ounces of gold and is currently supported by a processing plant with a capacity of 1.4 million tonnes per year. As of June 30, 2025, the mine reported ore reserves of 13.05 million tonnes at a grade of 1.29 g/t gold. Since June 2025, 13 holes totaling 6,304 meters have been drilled in the East Extension zone, with an average hole depth of 485 meters; 16 holes totaling 9,264 meters have been drilled in the North Extension zone, with an average hole depth of 580 meters. Mineralization in both zones remains open at depth and along strike. Alkane plans to continue underground drilling in FY27 with phased infill and extension drilling, aiming to increase geological confidence and test mineralization continuity, with the goal of supporting future mine life extension.
