en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazilian highway concessionaire EPR officially launched the "Conviver em Minas" program on July 10, 2026, in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais. The program will adopt the safety assessment methodology of the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) to conduct systematic road safety diagnostics and risk evaluations on key sections of the highway network managed by EPR in the states of Minas Gerais and Paraná.

EPR is a major highway concession company in Brazil, operating several expressway concession projects in Minas Gerais and Paraná. The newly launched Conviver em Minas program is a key component of EPR's road operation safety strategy, aiming to systematically reduce accident risks on its managed highway network by introducing internationally standardized road safety assessment methods.

iRAP is a non-profit international organization operating in over 100 countries worldwide, having conducted safety assessments on more than 1.8 million kilometers of roads globally. A distinctive feature of the iRAP methodology lies in its preventive assessment logic—it does not rely on historical accident data but instead rates safety based on the physical attributes of roads. By conducting standardized evaluations of road infrastructure elements such as lane width, shoulder conditions, intersection design, guardrail placement, and pavement markings, iRAP can generate a 1 to 5-star safety rating for each road segment, helping road managers identify high-risk sections and develop targeted improvement plans.

The launch ceremony of the Conviver em Minas program was held at the Automóvel Clube de Belo Horizonte (Belo Horizonte Automobile Club). The event was co-organized by EPR, the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) of Brazil, the Transport Regulatory Agency of Minas Gerais (Artemig), and iRAP. During the event, EPR stated that the collaboration with iRAP aims to eliminate high-risk sections on its managed concession highways and quantitatively reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

The launch of this program marks a significant step for EPR in the field of road safety management. By introducing internationally recognized road safety assessment methods, it provides data support and technical pathways for upgrading road infrastructure safety in Brazil.
