en.Wedoany.com Reported - In September 2025, Enercon launched its Wind+Storage solution for the German market, combining wind power generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and intelligent hybrid control, suitable for both new and existing wind farms equipped with Enercon turbines. This solution aims to unlock more flexible revenue streams, reduce curtailment, and provide system services.
Enercon has over 15 years of experience in hybrid projects. The signing of the first two Wind+Storage branded projects in Germany marks a significant step in expanding its onshore wind energy solution portfolio.
In the Möhnesee-Westrich project, the storage unit is coupled with the wind farm, connected to two E-138 EP3 E3 turbines with a total capacity of 8.52 MW. In the Soest-Meiningsen project, one E-138 EP3 E3 turbine, operational since 2026, and one E-160 EP5 E3 turbine, planned for installation in 2028, will be integrated, with a total capacity of 9.82 MW; the storage system here focuses more on grid and market-oriented applications.
Enercon's contracting partner is Planungsbüro Düser GmbH, an independent engineering company headquartered in Ense, specializing in the wind energy sector, supporting renewable energy projects independently or with local partners, from permitting and technical infrastructure to long-term operation. Enercon won the company's trust with its combination of wind power, storage, and intelligent control. Andreas Düser, Managing Director of Planungsbüro Düser GmbH, stated that the partnership-based exchange was particularly valuable, and together they developed a solution that meets both technical requirements and economic goals.
In both projects, Enercon acts as the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) partner, responsible for key services including project coordination, integration, installation, and commissioning, as well as revenue calculation and management of the hybrid controller for wind and storage. Andreas Henig, Executive Vice President of Enercon's Wind Energy Business Unit, stated that Wind+Storage creates new opportunities for customers to develop wind farm projects that are more grid and market-oriented. He noted that the joint action with Planungsbüro Düser is a strong signal of trust, openness to innovation, and partnership-based collaboration. Hybrid projects are technically, regulatory, and commercially demanding, making experience, system understanding, and strong partners crucial.
