en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the Land Availability Directorate, is advancing the land release process required for the "Jauja Airport Runway and Terminal Rehabilitation and Improvement Project." This project aims to strengthen air connectivity and improve operational conditions at the Jauja Airport terminal in the Junín region.

To date, the MTC has acquired 516 plots of land, achieving a progress rate of 92.31%. The MTC is maintaining continuous coordination with the Provincial Municipality of Jauja (Municipalidad Provincial de Jauja), and land release is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2026.

In February of this year, the MTC awarded the contract for the preparation of technical documents for the rehabilitation and improvement of infrastructure at Jauja's Francisco Carle Airport. The project, with an estimated investment of 355 million soles, aims to fully modernize the airport terminal, which is currently managed by the Peruvian Corporation of Airports and Commercial Aviation (CORPAC S.A.).

The main objective of the consulting work is to optimize airport infrastructure, including the runway, terminal, taxiways, apron, and the acquisition of navigation aids. To this end, the contract has been awarded to the Consorcio Consultor Jauja (Jauja Consulting Consortium) to prepare the technical documents for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project. Phase 1 is expected to commence in the first half of 2026.
