Ford Mustang GT3 Debuts at Interlagos WEC Round in Brazil

Held at the Interlagos circuit, Ford will field two cars run by Proton Competition with support from Multimatic Motorsports, competing against Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, and other brands in the LMGT3 class. This move is not just about participation; it is a core strategic demonstration of Ford's approach to developing technology, strengthening its brand, and building a connection with production cars through motorsport.

During the event, Ford will display the new Mustang Dark Horse model equipped with a manual transmission in the fan zone. Designed as the technical foundation for the GT3, both vehicles share the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 naturally aspirated engine, reinforced body structure, and track-developed components, establishing a direct link between the road car and the endurance racer. Marcel Bueno, Ford's Marketing Director for South America, stated that this arrangement reflects Ford's strategy of bringing the development teams for road cars and race cars closer together, using motorsport as a laboratory to accelerate innovation.

In addition to the WEC entry, Ford will also showcase the championship-winning prototype from Sizmic Racing in the fan zone, which won the 2026 Rally Jalapão. This car is powered by the same Coyote V8 engine and was driven by Bia Figueiredo with co-driver Beco Andreotti, making her the first female driver to win a round of the Brazilian Cross-Country Rally Championship (Campeonato Brasileiro de Rally Raid).

The appearance at Interlagos also highlights the current scale of the Ford Performance program. The seventh-generation Mustang has become the most widely campaigned model in the brand's history, competing in championships such as the WEC, IMSA, GT World Challenge, DTM, NASCAR, Australian Supercars, and Formula Drift.
