en.Wedoany.com Reported - Insta360 has partnered with 3D printing company Bambu Lab to launch a design challenge on Bambu Lab's MakerWorld platform, inviting makers and designers to create and 3D print custom accessories and modules for the flagship new Luna Ultra dual-lens 8K gimbal camera.
The event, titled "Insta360 Luna Ultra Design Challenge (MakerWorld)," kicks off today and runs until August 9, 2026. During this period, makers can submit 3D printed designs for a chance to win 40 prizes totaling over $11,000. The Luna Ultra is a versatile dual-lens gimbal camera co-designed with Leica and released last month. To facilitate community design, Insta360 and Bambu Lab have published 3MF and STL design files for the Luna Ultra camera on MakerWorld. Based on these files, makers can create practical equipment such as shooting brackets and stabilizing bases, as well as "creative modules" like custom camera protective cases and shells.

The competition is divided into two tracks. The Model Design Challenge requires makers to upload unique 3D-printable Luna Ultra accessories to MakerWorld and tag them with #PrintForLuna. Bambu Lab and Insta360 will select two winners, who will receive an Insta360 gift bag and 200 MakerWorld points, redeemable for Bambu Lab products. The Social Content Challenge invites creators to share their ideas and 3D printed works on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, or Reddit, tagging them with #PrintForLuna, #BambuLab, and #Insta360LunaUltra. The most creative and practical ideas in this track will each win an Insta360 Luna Ultra set and a Bambu Lab X2D Combo 3D printer, valued at $1,669. Other prizes include coupons and gift cards. Additionally, the partners will select one exceptionally outstanding 3D printed accessory from the entries and turn it into an official product.

Max Richter, co-founder and Vice President of Marketing at Insta360, stated that creativity is extending from capturing images to building and shaping the tools themselves, and this collaboration connects the imaging and maker communities in this way for the first time, empowering creators to push boundaries. Recently, other brands have also leveraged 3D printing to encourage user customization. For example, last month Google released the design specifications for the new FitBit Air in the form of 2D CAD drawings, inviting customers to design their own bands or cases using 3D printing and other technologies.
