en.Wedoany.com Reported - Iberia, Air Europa, Plus Ultra, and TAP have resumed flights to Venezuela, all currently operating to Arturo Michelena Airport in Valencia.

The airlines chose Valencia Airport because Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, Caracas, was severely affected by two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 on June 24, and remains closed to commercial flights as restoration work continues. According to Spanish newspaper Hosteltur, Iberia operates two weekly flights. Air Europa operates four weekly flights. Plus Ultra offers four weekly flights from Madrid and another from Tenerife. Air Europa's Valencia flight schedule is expected to last at least until July 31. In addition to European airlines, Panama's Copa Airlines operates 21 weekly flights between Panama and Valencia, while Avianca offers 14 weekly flights between Bogotá and Valencia.
Arturo Michelena Airport, located in Valencia about a two-hour drive from Caracas, is Venezuela's fourth-largest airport and was previously used mainly for domestic flights. Following the earthquakes, Barcelona Airport in Anzoátegui State has also seen increased usage, with Avior, Copa Airlines, and Latam Airlines currently operating there. La Chinita International Airport in Maracaibo is being used by Avianca and Copa Airlines, with American Airlines expected to begin operations there from July 14.
TAP resumed flights to Venezuela on July 13, with the first flight heading to Valencia Airport. The company stated that operations are gradually resuming, with flights destined for Valencia Airport and a technical stopover in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, where the crew will remain; neither the aircraft nor the crew will stay in Venezuela. TAP had resumed flights to Venezuela in April, after they were suspended since November 2025 due to cautious airspace warnings from the United States and Spain. Following the two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 on June 24, the company suspended operations again, resuming on July 13.
