en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kijing Terminal has added two new hybrid power battery-driven Rubber-Tired Gantry Cranes (RTGs) to strengthen container handling capacity, supporting the terminal's business expansion following the launch of direct container export services.

Two Sany Hybrid Full Battery RTGs arrived at Kijing Terminal on July 4 aboard the MV BILLIE, after being shipped to West Kalimantan. Each unit has a safe working load of 41 tons and is currently being assembled before entering service.
The new equipment is expected to improve container handling efficiency and promote more sustainable port operations. Yanto, General Manager of PT Pelindo Regional 2's Pontianak branch, stated that the investment is part of the terminal's modernization plan. He said that adding battery-driven hybrid RTGs helps modernize Kijing Terminal's equipment while supporting more efficient and environmentally friendly port operations, with the terminal's service capacity expected to grow alongside the increase in logistics and import-export activities in West Kalimantan.
Alongside equipment upgrades, Kijing Terminal is preparing for higher vessel traffic. The terminal is expected to receive additional services from PT Pulau Laut Line, including the BG.MMSS 2711 on the Pasir Gudang–Kijing–ICA–Kijing–Pasir Gudang route, and the MV.WGM 256T between Jakarta and Kijing. According to Pelindo, the additional vessel calls reflect growing demand for container services and enhanced domestic and international trade connectivity through the terminal.
The company believes that the combination of new equipment and more frequent vessel calls will improve terminal productivity and solidify Kijing Terminal's role as an export gateway for West Kalimantan. Yanto added that following the success of the first direct export cargo, supporting facilities at the terminal continue to be strengthened; the two hybrid full-battery RTGs are part of Pelindo's investment aimed at enhancing service capacity, accelerating container handling speeds, and providing more modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly port operations; the equipment will be put into use after assembly, and with additional vessel arrivals planned by PT Pulau Laut Line, container activity at Kijing Terminal is expected to continue growing, supporting smoother logistics and import-export flows in West Kalimantan.
