Alpine, once the successor to Renault's sports division, is now preparing for the electrification of the next-generation A110. This two-seat compact coupe, a modern version of the classic Willys Interlagos, debuted its prototype, nicknamed the A110 Future, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The BWT Alpine F1 Team itself serves as a testing ground for the new sports car technology.

Alpine has showcased the key solutions for the next-generation coupe through the A110 Future prototype. In addition to the new electric powertrain, the concept car introduces the all-new Alpine Performance Platform (APP) modular architecture, developed specifically for electric sports cars and adaptable to different body types and mechanical configurations. Although the powertrain has shifted to electric, the concept retains the traditional essence of the A110. The coupe maintains a two-seat layout and adopts an unusual battery arrangement: battery modules are distributed at the front and rear rather than concentrated under the floor, helping to maintain a low center of gravity, reduce vehicle height, and preserve the iconic driving position of the current model.

From a technical perspective, the APP platform features an 800-volt electrical architecture and CTP (cell-to-pack) battery technology, where cells are directly integrated into structural components, eliminating intermediate modules. According to Alpine, 25% of the capacity is installed at the front, with the remaining 75% at the rear, and the aluminum cabin structure helps improve rigidity. Power is provided by two motors always located on the rear axle, preserving the classic layout of the Willys Interlagos. The motors are equipped with silicon carbide inverters and can reach a maximum speed of 21,500 rpm. This powertrain also debuts the Alpine Active Torque Vectoring 2.0 system, which independently controls torque delivered to each rear wheel, enhancing precision, agility, and stability on both road and track.

According to the manufacturer, the A110 Future is not just a design concept but a test platform for the development of the future production sports car. Most of the tuning work has been completed in driving simulators, allowing engineers to calibrate the chassis, electronic management systems, and powertrain before actual road testing. The final production design is expected to be unveiled by the end of 2026, with the official launch no later than 2027.
