en.Wedoany.com Reported - Qatar Airways has postponed the launch of its triangular route from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) via Bogotá (BOG) to Caracas (CCS) to September 2, originally scheduled to commence on July 22. Regional tensions are considered one of the factors affecting the airline's scheduling, but specific reasons have not been disclosed.

According to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium, due to the launch delay, Qatar Airways will only operate 35 flights on this South American triangular route in 2026. In comparison, its only other South American route—Doha to São Paulo Guarulhos Governor André Franco Montoro International Airport (GRU) in Brazil—has 79 flights scheduled this month.
Qatar Airways will operate the route using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. Data from ch-aviation shows that the airline has six of these long-range widebody jets, with an average age of 16.4 years. According to aeroLOPA data, these aircraft are configured with 42 business class seats and 230 or 234 economy class seats. Due to the high altitude of Bogotá Airport and payload restrictions, the direct return flight from Bogotá to Doha requires a stopover in Caracas.
The revised flight schedule shows that the inaugural flight will depart from Doha directly to Caracas, then make a short flight to Bogotá, before returning directly to Doha. Subsequent regular flights will operate in the opposite direction. Flight QR783 departs Doha at 7:30 AM, flying approximately 16 hours and 35 minutes to arrive at Bogotá at 4:05 PM local time. After a 90-minute ground stop, the flight to Caracas takes two hours and five minutes, landing at 8:40 PM. Following a two-hour stop in Caracas, the flight departs at 10:40 PM to return to Doha, with a flight time of 14 hours and 15 minutes, arriving at 7:55 PM the next day. The total journey for passengers from Doha to Caracas via Bogotá is expected to be nearly 21 hours.

Affected by the route delay, Qatar Airways will operate only one South American route in July, namely Doha to São Paulo. This route has a total of 79 flights this month, equivalent to two to three flights per day. Among them, 31 flights are operated by Airbus A350-1000, and the remaining 48 by Boeing 777-200LR. The westbound block time from Doha to São Paulo is approximately 15 hours, while the eastbound segment typically takes 14 hours and 20 minutes.
