en.Wedoany.com Reported - Volkswagen released the ID.Cross, the electric version of the T-Cross small SUV, on July 15, 2026.

The 2027 Volkswagen ID.Cross is built on the dedicated MEB+ electric platform, sharing it with the ID.Polo, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq. This new electric SUV is now open for ordering in Germany, but it has not yet been confirmed whether or when it will enter the Australian market. A spokesperson for Volkswagen Australia stated that as part of ongoing product planning activities, the organization is evaluating the feasibility of the ID.Cross in the Australian market. While noting consumer interest in the model, it cannot currently confirm a local launch timeline or specific arrangements.

All versions of the ID.Cross are equipped with a single front-mounted electric motor, available in three power outputs: 85kW, 99kW, and 155kW. Two battery pack options are offered: 37kWh and 52kWh, with the latter providing a maximum WLTP range of up to 427km.

Both battery packs support AC charging at up to 11kW. The 37kWh battery pack supports DC fast charging at up to 90kW, while the 52kWh pack supports up to 105kW. Charging from 10% to 80% takes 23 minutes and 24 minutes, respectively. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality is standard across the range, with a maximum power output of 3.6kW, requiring an adapter plugged into the external charging port.

In terms of exterior design, the ID.Cross maintains a consistent design language with the ID.Polo. Optional features include matrix LED headlights, a full-width LED taillight with 3D elements, an illuminated Volkswagen logo, and a floating roof effect created by black-painted pillars. The vehicle measures 4153mm in length, 1794mm in width, 1581mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2601mm, representing increases of 45mm, 34mm, a decrease of 2mm, and a wheelbase increase of 38mm compared to the T-Cross.

Inside, it features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, which, like the ID.Polo, offers a display mode simulating the first-generation Golf's dashboard, along with a 12.9-inch touchscreen multimedia system. Additional features include a panoramic glass sunroof with an electric sunshade, a fabric-covered dashboard, piano key shortcut buttons below the touchscreen, an optional 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, heated seats and steering wheel, as well as keyless entry and start, all available as standard or optional equipment. The seating layout is 5 seats, with a trunk volume of 475 liters (rear seats upright) and a front trunk volume of 25 liters.
The impact of the ID.Cross's launch on the gasoline-powered T-Cross remains unclear. The gasoline-powered T-Cross first debuted in 2018, launched in Australia in 2019, and received its most recent update in 2024.
