Wedoany.com Report-May 25, Entergy Texas, a utility serving approximately 524,000 customers across 27 counties in Southeast Texas, has partnered with United Utility, an electricity infrastructure services provider, to implement the Texas Future Ready Resiliency Plan. This multiyear initiative aims to strengthen the regional power grid, enhancing its reliability and resilience against disruptions.

The move forms part of Entergy’s Texas Future Ready Resiliency Plan.

United Utility will provide engineering design, construction, and material management services, including pole inspections conducted with aerial drones. The collaboration expands United Utility’s operations in Texas, building on its existing grid-improvement projects with Entergy Louisiana, Duke Energy, and NextEra Energy in Florida. Ty Carmeans, United Utility’s west region president, stated: “We’re incredibly excited Entergy Texas has chosen to expand our strategic partnership to support their large-scale grid resiliency programme.”

The Public Utility Commission of Texas unanimously approved the first phase of the resiliency plan in January 2025. This three-year phase, with a $137 million investment, focuses on strategic projects to reinforce the power grid, reduce storm-related outages, and lower restoration costs over the long term. Engineering design is scheduled to begin next month, with construction activities expected to start later in 2025.

The partnership aligns with Entergy Texas’s commitment to improving service reliability for its customers, who rely on a robust grid to power homes and businesses. Carmeans added: “As a national leader in grid resilience services for electric utilities, United Utility is an ideal partner for Entergy Texas to design and construct the grid enhancements that will reduce storm-related outages times and restoration costs for families and businesses across Southeast Texas.”

Entergy Texas, a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation based in New Orleans, Louisiana, is leveraging United Utility’s expertise to deliver infrastructure upgrades that enhance grid performance while minimizing environmental and operational disruptions. This initiative supports sustainable energy delivery, ensuring Southeast Texas remains well-equipped to meet future energy demands.
