First phase of Gdansk agricultural terminal in Poland completed, with storage capacity of 30,000 tons
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The first phase of the Gdansk Agricultural Terminal (GAT) has been completed in Poland, a project aimed at enhancing the grain handling capacity and cargo storage capabilities of the Port of Gdansk. The Polish Maritime Station website announced this progress and noted that the investment is divided into two stages, with the first stage just concluded and the second stage set to build silos and expand infrastructure, expected to be completed by 2029.

The first phase involved the construction of a flat storage warehouse at Szczecin Quay, covering an area of nearly 6,500 square meters, with a storage capacity of 30,000 tons and a cargo handling capacity of 500,000 tons. The facility can process up to 120 vehicles per day, with a daily cargo handling capacity of 8,000 tons.
The second phase plans to build a complex of 24 flat-bottom silos at Wisłane Quay, integrating advanced highly automated cargo handling systems. This infrastructure will be capable of managing cargo transported by ship, rail, and road, while also taking into account environmental and social factors. The technical solutions adopted are designed to reduce emissions, minimize fire and explosion risks, and improve the quality of stored products. Upon completion of the project, GAT's total storage capacity will increase to 150,000 tons.
Arkadiusz Marchewka, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Poland, stated that this strategic investment not only enhances Poland's export potential but, more importantly, strengthens food security. He emphasized that modern ports focus not only on economic or energy matters but also on military and food security, and Poland is currently making record investments in this regard.
Marchewka also pointed out that the terminal is 100% Polish-owned, built by Port Gdanski Eksploatacja, a company affiliated with the Gdansk Port Authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Gdansk SA), and therefore also owned by the State Treasury. He noted that while completing the first phase of the investment, the next phase is being launched simultaneously, involving the construction of a series of silos to further enhance cargo handling capacity. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of State Assets, and through this synergy, it supports key economic sectors and achieves national goals.
