en.Wedoany.com Reported - Amogy and 2G Energy have completed testing of an integrated ammonia power generation system at Amogy's Houston facility, validating the commercial technology pathway for ammonia-fueled power generation. The integrated solution supports both natural gas and ammonia as fuels, providing on-site power for high-consumption facilities such as data centers, while reserving an upgrade path from natural gas to ammonia fuel.

The AMMDrive™ solution tested in this program consists of Amogy's ammonia reformer and a 2G Agenitor 412 reciprocating generator set. The ammonia reformer converts ammonia into a hydrogen-rich reformed fuel that drives the 2G engine to generate electricity, with all metrics meeting commercial deployment requirements. The 2G engine can be configured as a combined heat and power (CHP) system, recovering thermal energy (such as hot water) alongside power generation to improve overall energy efficiency.

The testing focused on validating the core technical interface between the ammonia reformer and the engine, including fuel delivery, control systems, and integrated operational performance, with results bringing the solution close to commercial readiness. The dual-fuel design allows customers to generate power directly using natural gas or gradually transition to hydrogen-rich fuel derived from low-carbon ammonia, enabling phased emissions reduction. The modular architecture of AMMDrive supports on-demand scaling to match customer facility construction schedules, making it suitable for data centers and other high-consumption industries with limited grid access or extended infrastructure lead times.

Amogy CEO Seonghoon Woo stated that this testing provides empirical evidence of the feasibility of the ammonia power generation platform, while offering customers a practical option that addresses both current power constraints and long-term decarbonization goals. 2G Energy CEO Pablo Hofelich noted that this collaboration demonstrates the adaptability of the 2G engine platform to multiple fuel pathways, and both parties are exploring the potential of flexible low-carbon power solutions in commercial applications.

Building on current results, Amogy and 2G will continue to optimize the integration process between the reformer and the engine in preparation for commercial deployment. The two companies plan to jointly support customer projects, intensify market development efforts, and conduct capacity planning for potential projects in the United States, Asia, and other regions.
