Kostal Launches New 25 kW Battery Inverter
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kostal has begun selling its new battery inverter, the Plenticore BI 25, which is now available for order through specialist dealers. This 25 kW three-phase inverter features backup power functionality and intelligent system connectivity, targeting large-scale commercial and residential installations. It is suitable for both new projects and retrofitting energy storage to existing photovoltaic systems.

Photovoltaic systems and batteries are connected on the AC side, allowing the storage configuration to be independent of existing or planned PV inverters. Kostal targets designers, installers, and operators focused on larger-scale storage projects, peak demand reduction, and optimizing solar self-consumption. The device offers three independent connection ports, compatible with batteries for high-voltage systems, including Kostal's own modular Helivor HV system, with storage capacity ranging from 5 kWh to 230 kWh.
According to data released by Kostal, the new inverter achieves a maximum efficiency of 98.3% and features low standby losses. When combined with dynamic electricity tariffs, the storage system can be programmed based on price fluctuations to automatically charge or discharge the battery. The three-phase backup power function can maintain loads of up to 25 kVA in backup mode, enhancing supply security.
The inverter can be paired with Kostal's commercial PV inverter, the Piko CI G, which is available in 30 kW, 50 kW, and 100 kW power options. With the functional separation of the two devices, the PV inverter can be installed near the solar array, thereby shortening DC cable lengths. Kostal's Multi-Device Control (MDC) system supports interconnection between inverters, coordinating energy flows and higher-level control signals, including those required under Section 9 of the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG) and Section 14a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG).
The Plenticore BI 25 is ready for grid-connected energy system integration, supporting standardized communication protocols such as EEBus (LPC and MPC) and Modbus/SunSpec TCP, enabling connectivity with energy management systems and building management systems. Kostal has also optimized the device for installation and commissioning: quick-connect terminals speed up wiring, initial configuration can be completed via the app, web server, or directly on the inverter, and updates are installed automatically. Kostal's app and portal allow tracking of the system's key operational and performance data.
