Wedoany.com Report-Jun 23, Globe, a major Philippine telecom, is spearheading Internet of Things (IoT) adoption through a Proof of Concept (PoC) for the GSMA SGP.32 standard, in collaboration with Thales and Bridge Alliance. As the first Philippine telco to test this GSMA specification, Globe aims to enable secure, scalable IoT connectivity for various business applications.
Working with Thales, Globe integrates Adaptive Connect Services, including SGP.32 eSIM IoT Remote Manager and Fleet Manager, to support local and regional IoT scenarios. Bridge Alliance connects member operators like Globe, Singtel, Optus, and AIS, while overseeing the PoC to ensure regional compatibility and test cross-border enterprise use cases.
The PoC showcases Thales’ platform compliance with SGP.32, demonstrating eSIM-based IoT device management with features like remote SIM provisioning, profile switching, seamless connectivity, and rapid activation.
Jon Cahilig, Thales’ Asia Head of Sales for Mobile Connectivity Solutions, said: “Integrating Thales IoT connectivity solutions within Globe and Bridge Alliance services would provide their enterprise customers with an advanced platform for seamless and secure management of IoT device connectivity. This also provides an opportunity for all IoT companies to introduce their SGP.32 devices in a very broad market when they participate in this collaborative project.”
Dr. Ong Geok Chwee, Bridge Alliance CEO, said: “Bridge Alliance is pleased to join our member operator Globe and our technology partner Thales to trial the SGP.32 standard, which represents a major step forward in enabling seamless, interoperable, and scalable enterprise IoT connectivity across borders. This collaboration brings us closer to realizing a truly unified approach to enterprise IoT that has the potential to deliver regional value to even more of our member operators across multiple markets.”
The project underscores the Philippines’ role in advancing regional IoT connectivity for enterprises.
