Wedoany.com Report-Jun 23, India has assigned its 200th coal mine to Singhal Business Private Limited, advancing its coal sector development. The Ministry of Coal confirmed that the Marwatola–II coal block was allocated to the company.
The Ministry said: “It reflects the Ministry’s visionary approach—one that seeks not only to enhance domestic coal production but also to rebalance the national energy matrix by reducing dependence on imports and strengthening long-term energy security.”
Coal production in India grew by 3% to 86.24 million tonnes in May 2025. Captive and commercial mines contributed 16.93 million tonnes, up from 13.83 million tonnes in May 2024. By March 2025, coal stocks held by companies increased by 29.18% to 122.69 million tonnes.
This milestone reinforces India’s focus on expanding domestic coal output, minimizing import needs, and promoting sustainable energy through effective resource strategies.
