Concord Green Energy Acquires 210MW Wind Project in Canada

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 15, Concord Green Energy, the renewable energy business under Canada's Concord Pacific, announced the acquisition of the Golden South Wind Project in Saskatchewan. Located near Assiniboia, the project comprises 50 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 210MW, of which 200MW is under a long-term power purchase agreement. It is currently the largest operational wind project in Saskatchewan by both number of turbines and installed capacity.

The Golden South project entered commercial operation in March 2022 and has a 25-year power purchase agreement with SaskPower, Saskatchewan's electric utility. Its annual generation can meet the electricity needs of up to approximately 100,000 households. Following the completion of this transaction, the original project owner Potentia Renewables will continue to be responsible for day-to-day operations and management, while existing landowner partnerships, the operations and maintenance team, and the project relationship with SaskPower will remain continuous.

This acquisition brings Concord Green Energy's operational renewable energy asset base to approximately 543MW. The company currently has wind, solar, hydro, and energy storage projects across Canada, with operational assets and projects under development totaling more than 1GW. Golden South will significantly increase the share of its wind assets within its overall renewable energy portfolio.

Golden South is a mature operational asset. This transaction is not a new-build project but a change in ownership of a renewable energy station asset. For Concord Green Energy, the project features operational status, long-term power purchase agreement lock-in, and stable cash flow, which can directly expand its operational scale in Canada's electricity market and provide a larger asset platform for continued investment in wind, solar, and energy storage assets.

Saskatchewan has recently continued to expand its new energy installed capacity. In June 2026, SaskPower commenced construction of another 200MW wind project, Rose Valley, which is also located near Assiniboia and has a 30-year power purchase agreement. As the Golden South asset transaction is completed, new wind construction projects in the local new energy market are still entering the construction phase.
