en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 17, Korea's Ssangyong E&C announced that it had won the contract, as sole bidder, for the Tengah General and Community Hospital construction project tendered by Singapore's Ministry of Health, with a contract value of approximately US$2.15 billion. The project is located in Tengah New Town in western Singapore and is planned to comprise 7 buildings, with 3 basement levels and up to 9 above-ground storeys, providing a total of 1,534 beds, with a total design and construction period of 63 months.

The hospital is being developed by Singapore's Ministry of Health and will be operated by the National University Health System (NUHS) upon completion. Singapore's Ministry of Health previously announced that Tengah General and Community Hospital will serve the western region, providing emergency, inpatient, rehabilitation and specialist outpatient services, and is scheduled to be operational in the early 2030s. In March 2026, Singapore's Ministry of Health confirmed that design consultancy work for the project had commenced.

The project has a total gross floor area of approximately 220,000 square metres, with the hospital campus built along Tengah Garden Avenue. The master plan published by Singapore's healthcare services company MOHH includes general hospital and community hospital functions, along with associated medical, logistics and public spaces.

A total of 11 companies participated in the qualification competition for this tender, and Ssangyong E&C secured the contract after advancing to the final shortlist of 4 bidding companies. The project adopts an integrated implementation arrangement covering design and construction, and Ssangyong E&C will undertake the construction of the hospital's main buildings and supporting works.

Ssangyong E&C has previously participated in the construction of healthcare facilities in Singapore including Woodlands General Hospital, the new KK Women's and Children's Hospital, and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and is currently involved in the Alexandra Hospital project. The Tengah General and Community Hospital contract, valued at approximately US$2.15 billion, is the largest single project contract in the company's history.
