Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 14, On August 13, 2025, the Feed Leaders Committee (FLC) of South Korea successfully acquired 65,000 metric tons of feed corn through an international tender. The purchase, managed by the Mitsui trading house, marks a significant step in ensuring a stable supply of animal feed for South Korea’s livestock industry.

The corn was procured at a cost of $226.05 per ton on a cost and freight (C&F) basis, with an additional $1.50 per ton surcharge for port redirection. This pricing structure reflects the FLC’s efforts to secure high-quality feed at competitive rates while accommodating logistical flexibility.

Delivery of the feed corn is scheduled between October 1 and October 30, 2025, from multiple global ports. Shipments will originate from the U.S. West Coast, the Mexican Gulf, other Western American ports, and South African ports, ensuring a diversified supply chain to meet South Korea’s needs. The specific delivery windows are set as follows: October 1–30 from the U.S. West Coast, October 10–12 from the Mexican Gulf, October 5–7 from other Western American ports, and October 20–22 from South Africa.

This tender aligns with South Korea’s ongoing efforts to support its agricultural sector by securing reliable sources of feed corn, a critical component for livestock production. The involvement of Mitsui, a globally recognized trading house, underscores the competitive nature of the tender process and the importance of efficient logistics in meeting delivery timelines.

The FLC’s strategic sourcing from multiple regions highlights the importance of global partnerships in maintaining a steady supply of agricultural commodities. By diversifying its sources, South Korea mitigates risks associated with supply chain disruptions and ensures consistent availability of feed for its domestic market.

This purchase contributes to South Korea’s broader agricultural strategy, which focuses on balancing domestic consumption needs with efficient import practices. The successful completion of the tender demonstrates the FLC’s commitment to supporting the livestock industry while maintaining cost-effectiveness and reliability in its supply chain operations.
