Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 26, Bunge has announced an agreement to acquire the grain elevator assets of North West Terminal Ltd (NWT) near Unity, Saskatchewan, Canada. The deal includes the grain elevator and associated storage facilities, while the fermentation and distillation complex will remain under NWT’s management, ensuring continuity of operations.

The NWT grain complex, one of Western Canada’s largest grain processing facilities, has a total storage capacity of 63,000 tonnes. It features comprehensive grain cleaning and drying equipment and benefits from connectivity to both major Canadian railways, CPKC and CN, supporting efficient logistics for regional and national grain flows.

Kyle Jevorsky, Bunge’s Canada CEO, commented: “We look forward to integrating this efficient, high-throughput facility into our leading network of grain assets. We are confident that our operational and logistical skills, focus on high-quality service and targeted investments in the future will allow us to maximize the potential of this facility for the benefit of our customers. We also aim to be an active member of the local community as a leading employer and community investment initiative.”

The acquisition aligns with Bunge’s strategy to expand its North American grain network and strengthen its supply chain capabilities. By adding a facility with strong storage capacity and advanced handling equipment, Bunge aims to enhance operational efficiency and service reliability for both local producers and wider markets.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, with completion expected in October if all requirements are met. Once finalized, the acquisition will consolidate Bunge’s presence in Western Canada, enabling greater integration of regional grain production into its broader processing and distribution operations.

The deal also emphasizes community engagement, as Bunge plans to maintain the facility as a key local employer and contribute to regional initiatives. The integration of NWT’s complex is expected to create operational synergies, optimize logistics, and support continued growth in Canadian grain handling and processing.

This acquisition highlights the continued development of Canada’s grain sector, where storage, transportation, and processing capabilities are critical to supporting both domestic consumption and export flows. By leveraging NWT’s strategic location and infrastructure, Bunge strengthens its position in the market and enhances its ability to serve farmers, processors, and customers across North America efficiently.
