Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 27, Caddick Construction has been selected to deliver the £22 million rebuild of Harrogate College’s main campus, including a new green technology centre. Planning approval for the campus redevelopment was granted by North Yorkshire Council in May. The project includes a 43,000 sq ft multi-storey teaching block and a 10,600 sq ft single-storey workshop, designed to provide modern and sustainable facilities for students.

This project marks Caddick’s second collaboration with Luminate Education Group, following the completion of an £11.4 million contract for Pudsey Sixth Form College in Leeds, which began construction in 2024. Located at Hornbeam Park, the Harrogate development has secured £20 million in funding from the Department for Education. The existing Harrogate College building will be demolished to make way for the new campus, which is expected to be completed in time for the 2026/27 academic year.

Steve Ford, regional managing director of Caddick Construction North East & Yorkshire, said: “Our appointment to Harrogate College is a mark of our experience in delivering high quality education projects and our presence on the region's leading procurement frameworks, both of which will result in an efficient and exceptional delivery. We're very pleased to be building on our relationship with Luminate Education Group following our completion of the new Pudsey Sixth Form College in time for the new academic year.”

Colin Booth, chief executive of Luminate Education Group, commented: “I'm delighted that Luminate Education Group will be working closely with Caddick again on a £22m rebuild of Harrogate College. The Harrogate College campus is long overdue an upgrade, and this rebuild will provide purpose-built facilities that can improve the vocational education the college is able to offer to young people across the area.”

Both Pudsey Sixth Form College and Harrogate College projects have been procured through the NEPO Construction Works framework, to which Caddick was appointed in 2023. The Harrogate campus redevelopment will enhance teaching and learning environments while integrating sustainable design elements, including the green technology centre. This new facility is expected to support innovative training in renewable energy and other emerging technologies, aligning with regional education priorities and workforce development goals.

With the rebuild, Harrogate College aims to provide a modern, functional, and environmentally conscious campus that can serve as a hub for vocational education. The project demonstrates Luminate Education Group’s commitment to investing in high-quality education infrastructure and ensuring students have access to state-of-the-art learning spaces in North Yorkshire.
