Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 12, Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) strengthened its cooperation with Chinese ports in 2025, hosting three roundtable events in Tianjin, Shenzhen, and Shanghai. The Shanghai session coincided with the China International Import Expo (CIIE), providing logistics, industrial companies, and partner ports a platform for direct dialogue.

China remains Hamburg’s most significant trading partner. The Shanghai roundtable marked the sixth edition, while Tianjin and Shenzhen, key maritime hubs and official Hamburg partner ports, were newly added to the program. Discussions focused on global supply chain challenges, including green port transformation, shore power and alternative fuels, and improving resilience and efficiency in international transport. Current projects in port regions and ongoing collaboration between Hamburg and Chinese partners were also highlighted.

Inga Gurries, Head of Market Development Asia & Overseas at HHM, said: “In the roundtable events, we create space for strategic dialogue, deepen the exchange of knowledge between the world’s leading ports, and ultimately promote Asian-European trade. The partnership with our Chinese colleagues is a key element in building a sustainable and stable port industry.”

Participants included Chinese port authorities, shipping companies, logistics providers, and industrial enterprises. Hamburg contributors included the Hamburg Port Authority, HHLA, Eurogate, TSIT, and DB Cargo Transasia.

In addition, HHM recently appointed economist Hendrik Meyn as a new Executive Board Member, joining Axel Mattern to form a two-person leadership team.

These initiatives reinforce Hamburg’s commitment to strengthening Asian-European trade relations, promoting knowledge exchange, and supporting sustainable port development through collaboration with key Chinese maritime partners.
