Wedoany.com Report-Dec.22, Recently, it was learned from the Jilin Provincial Geology and Mineral Bureau that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Jilin Province has achieved remarkable results in geological prospecting, discovering 47 mineral sites suitable for further exploration and evaluation; 27 mineral deposits, including super-large, large, and small-to-medium-sized ones, have been submitted. This year, important breakthrough results have been achieved in gold prospecting in the Yitong area, crystalline graphite prospecting in the Ji'an area, and polymetallic ore prospecting in the Huadian area.

A new breakthrough has been made in gold prospecting in the Yitong area. Last year, the exploration of the Houliuhezi gold deposit in Yitong made breakthrough progress, with the proven gold resources of this deposit reaching 22 tons. Subsequently, the Jilin Provincial Geology and Mineral Bureau seized the momentum and continued in-depth exploration, successfully identifying another large gold deposit in the nearby Erdaoling area, with resources amounting to 38 tons. Currently, the exploration depth of both deposits does not exceed 500 meters, and neither the strike nor the dip of the ore bodies is closed. In 2025, the Jilin Provincial Geology and Mineral Bureau discovered several new gold ore bodies in the periphery of this area. With further work, the gold resources in this area are expected to exceed 100 tons. This lays the foundation for building the Yitong area into another important gold ore cluster area in Jilin Province, providing solid support for the province's mineral resource security, related industrial upgrading, and high-quality economic development.

New achievements have been made in crystalline graphite prospecting in the Ji'an area. Crystalline graphite, as an advantageous mineral resource in our province, is a core raw material for multiple fields such as new energy and electronic information. In recent years, the Jilin Provincial Geology and Mineral Bureau has focused on systematic prospecting in the Ji'an area, successfully delineating a crystalline graphite metallogenic belt approximately 29 kilometers long and 20 kilometers wide. To date, the Bureau has submitted 12 high-quality mineral sites within this metallogenic belt, with proven resource reserves of 8.29 million tons and a potential economic value of 54 billion yuan. Both the resource scale and ore grade rank among the top in the province. In 2025, the Bureau deployed three special exploration projects in this area, which could add 2-3 more mineral sites, pushing the total resource scale towards the ten-million-ton level. Based on this, the Bureau is continuing to deepen exploration, striving to build a Ji'an ten-million-ton-level graphite ore cluster area, providing a stable raw material guarantee for extending, supplementing, and strengthening the graphite industry chain in the province.

A major discovery has been made in polymetallic ore prospecting in the Huadian area. Through geological exploration work over the past two years, ore bodies where six metal minerals coexist have been discovered for the first time in Jilin Province, including non-ferrous metals copper, nickel, cobalt, and precious metals gold, platinum, and palladium. The average grade of each metal element is higher than the general industrial indicators. This region has many and large-scale similar rock masses, indicating significant prospecting potential. Platinum and palladium are key materials in fields such as chemical industry, healthcare, and hydrogen fuel cells, while cobalt and nickel are indispensable in several important fields. This type of deposit allows for the comprehensive recovery of multiple minerals through a single mining operation, efficiently meeting industrial resource demands while minimizing ecological damage to the greatest extent. Currently, the Jilin Provincial Geology and Mineral Bureau is intensively deploying follow-up exploration to provide solid support for the coordinated advancement of industrial upgrading and ecological protection in the province.
