Wedoany.com Report-Dec.25, At 22:58 on December 21st, the BASF (Guangdong) 500,000-ton/year polyethylene plant, which was EPC contracted by HQC, successfully produced qualified products. This marks the smooth integration of the entire plant process and a successful one-time commissioning!

As a significant cooperation achievement witnessed and signed by the premiers of China and Germany, the BASF (Guangdong) integrated site project is BASF's largest overseas investment project to date. The successful commissioning of this plant will inject strong momentum into the supply of high-end polyolefins in South China.

The project is located in the Donghai Island Petrochemical Industrial Park in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. It fully adopts global unified construction management standards, with all project documents prepared in English. The design and construction simultaneously meet BASF and licensor requirements as well as relevant domestic regulations, progressing mechanical completion orderly in a subsystem mode. The commissioning of this plant not only marks the official entry of the BASF project site into the core capacity release phase but also fully demonstrates HQC's influence of "China Speed" and the "HQC Brand" in the field of international chemical project construction.

The project was officially signed and launched on December 15, 2022, adopting the EPCC general contracting model. On September 28, 2025, the project successfully achieved mechanical completion, marking the successful completion of the engineering construction tasks for the BASF polyethylene plant and its official transition to the commissioning stage.

The core facilities of BASF's Zhanjiang integrated site include a steam cracker with an annual capacity of 1 million tons of ethylene, along with several downstream units. The products are used in industries such as automotive, construction, high-speed rail, electronics and electrical appliances, food packaging, home and personal care, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals.
