Wedoany.com Report-Dec.26, Russia's energy company Gazprom supplied 38.8 billion cubic metres of natural gas to China through the Power of Siberia pipeline in 2025. This represents an increase of nearly 20% compared to the previous year, according to Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, who announced the figure on Thursday during a meeting to review the company's preliminary annual results.
"By the end of 2025, we have not only reached our gas supply target for China of 38 billion cubic metres, but more importantly, we will supply China with almost 800 million cubic metres more than our contractual obligations," Miller said.
This performance exceeded the pipeline's designed annual capacity of 38 billion cubic metres. Earlier in the year, a source familiar with the data indicated that Russia's pipeline gas deliveries to China were projected to reach around 38.6-38.7 billion cubic metres for 2025, up from 31 billion cubic metres in 2024. In October, Miller had already stated that supplies via the Power of Siberia would surpass 38 billion cubic metres this year.
The Power of Siberia pipeline, also known as Power of Siberia 1, began transporting natural gas from eastern Siberia to China in late 2019. It forms part of a long-term energy cooperation framework between the two countries, supporting stable and growing gas flows to meet demand.
The strong results for 2025 highlight the reliable operation of the infrastructure and the successful fulfillment of supply commitments, with deliveries going beyond the agreed baseline volume. This development underscores the importance of the pipeline as a key channel for energy trade in the region.
