Wedoany.com News - On January 9, Électricité de France (EDF) announced that due to Storm Gérard, the No. 1 reactor unit at the Flamanville Nuclear Power Plant in northwestern France has been disconnected from the power grid.

In a statement issued that day, EDF said that the No. 1 reactor unit at the Flamanville Nuclear Power Plant had already reduced its power output to 50% on the morning of the 8th and entered "island mode" near midnight, meaning "the unit was disconnected from the grid, producing only the electricity needed for its own operations."
The statement also noted that the No. 2 reactor unit was previously shut down for planned maintenance; the No. 3 reactor unit had reduced its output to 55% on the 8th in response to the stormy weather. The turbine of the No. 3 unit tripped in the early hours of the 9th, after which the reactor was powered by the external grid.
