Wedoany.com News - Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea formulated the "Livestock Manure Solid Fuel Activation Plan," announcing a goal to convert 1.18 million tons of livestock manure annually into solid fuel by 2030. This initiative is expected to generate enough electricity each year to meet the needs of 38,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 500,000 tons.

The plan aims to rapidly collect manure within three months to improve its quality and reuse the ash produced after combustion as raw material for fertilizer. By retrofitting equipment at large power plants, the annual usage of livestock manure solid fuel is projected to increase to 1 million tons by 2030. The number of solid fuel power generation units will also rise from the current 3 to 8 by 2028.
Furthermore, the Ministry plans to increase solid fuel production facilities to 25 sites by 2030 and establish standardized production processes utilizing existing composting facilities to enhance supply stability and economic efficiency.
A relevant official stated: "Livestock manure solid fuel is an ideal alternative as it can reduce the environmental burden of the livestock industry, replace coal, and contribute to greenhouse gas reduction. We will improve on-site applicability and economic feasibility to promote the widespread adoption of a sustainable resource utilization system."
