Wedoany.com Report on Feb 2nd, Kazakhstan's largest oil field, the Tengiz oil field, has begun to resume oil production. The field is operated by Tengizchevroil, a joint venture led by Chevron, and production had previously been partially interrupted for reasons.
The Kazakh Ministry of Energy announced that at 3:35 a.m. local time, the first oil well was successfully restarted. Currently, a total of five wells at the field are in operation. The Ministry of Energy stated that the production at the Tengiz oil field will gradually increase, and Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company, KazMunayGas, along with the Ministry of Energy, are assisting the project operator in accelerating the restoration to planned production levels.
Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov pointed out on January 28: "Kazakhstan expects the field to reach full capacity production within a week, which will help boost the country's crude oil output affected since the end of last year."
Production at the Tengiz field was previously affected, primarily due to a drone attack on the mooring terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), a crucial pipeline for exporting Kazakh crude oil. Subsequently, a fire at three power transformers led Tengizchevroil to suspend production on January 19. Currently, the resumption of production at the Tengiz field is progressing in an orderly manner, with crude oil output expected to gradually increase.
