Kier Group has recently won a £35 million contract to build a transport hub in Bristol's Temple Quarter, a key enabling project for the area's masterplan of 10,000 homes. The hub will replace the existing surface-level car park, freeing up space for subsequent residential and office development.

Designed by AHR as part of the South Gate scheme, this Bristol Temple Quarter transport hub will include a multi-storey car park with 379 spaces, a storage building for 530 bicycles, and new bus stops near Temple Meads station. The scheme also covers improvements to walking and cycling routes. On-site construction is expected to begin in mid-2024, with Kier aiming to complete the entire contract by March 2028.
The project team comprises multiple specialist organisations: Arup serves as project manager, lead consultant, structural and civil engineer, transport engineer, fire consultant, and energy consultant; AHR is the lead architect, urban designer, and landscape architect; Mott MacDonald is responsible for ground investigation and archaeology; and Alan Baxter focuses on heritage conservation. The client is Bristol Temple Quarter Limited Liability Partnership (BTQ LLP), the body responsible for delivering the masterplan, with members including Homes England and Bristol City Council.
This Bristol Temple Quarter transport hub is part of a broader 135-hectare masterplan expected to become one of the UK's largest regeneration projects in the coming years. Last month, Muse was selected as the preferred development partner for two key plots within the city centre's 10,000-home scheme, including leading the transformation of the area west of Temple Meads station and the development of the St Philip’s Marsh site.
