Rob Black, Secretary of the New Mexico Economic Development Department, noted that the department "emphasizes New Mexico's energy goals, oil and gas heritage, scientific research innovation, and renewable energy resources as reasons the state is well-positioned for investment and growth in the industry." Lencurel further added, "New Mexico has a very unique ecosystem that is difficult to replicate in other parts of the United States."

The clean fuel plant is expected to create 107 permanent jobs and generate $4.6 billion in economic benefits over the next decade. The project still needs to complete steps such as engineering design, fundraising, and permit approvals. It is scheduled to begin construction in 2028 and officially commence operations in 2031. This initiative by Blue Horse Energy is anticipated to further advance New Mexico's development in the clean energy sector.
