Wedoany.com Report on Mar 2nd, Tainui Group Holdings and Brookfield Asset Management have jointly announced plans to develop seven new flexible warehouse units at the Ruakura Superhub, aimed at supporting small and growing businesses. These new facilities at the Ruakura Superhub will optimize logistics resource allocation and help enterprises seize market opportunities.

The project is located at the intersection of Te Ipukura Street and Ruakura Road, covering 3.5 hectares with a total leasable area of 14,560 square meters. Each unit offers configurable space ranging from 1,000 to 4,500 square meters and is equipped with canopy areas, office spaces, and parking facilities.

Craig West, Chief Executive of Tainui Group Holdings, noted that this development will create new access points for emerging businesses within the 610-hectare logistics and industrial hub.

"These seven warehouse units will introduce a more flexible tier of use to the Ruakura Superhub. While we are one of Australasia's largest logistics centers, the Superhub welcomes operators of all sizes," said West.

"The units will be customized to meet business needs, helping them capture growth opportunities in local and international markets. Many enterprises have already chosen the Ruakura Superhub as their operational base."

The development project plans for over 100 dedicated car parks and more than 30 bicycle parks, and aims to achieve a minimum 4 Green Star rating from the New Zealand Green Building Council.

These units are expected to attract SMEs seeking expansion, companies providing supporting services for major tenants, and national operators looking for branch locations, further enriching the industrial ecosystem of the Ruakura Superhub.

The Ruakura Superhub is situated in the well-connected "Golden Triangle" region, close to the Waikato Expressway, the East Coast Main Trunk Railway Line, and the Ruakura Inland Port, offering both road and rail freight options. This location covers approximately 45% of New Zealand's population, 42% of its freight volume, and 55% of its GDP.

Future plans include expanding the existing 12-hectare inland port to 30 hectares and establishing rail connections to the Ports of Auckland and Tauranga.

In December last year, Air Liquide commissioned a 9,000-square-meter industrial gas facility at the Superhub, joining international tenants such as Kmart, Maersk, and Sime Darby, as well as New Zealand companies like Big Chill, Refrigafreighters, and Waitomo Group.

Construction of the new warehouse units has commenced, with Calder Stewart as the main contractor. Completion is expected by April 2027, which will further enhance the logistics service capabilities of the Ruakura Superhub.
