Wedoany.com Report on Mar 6th, Volvo Cars has made significant progress in the electric vehicle sector. Following its launch in the European market, demand for its new electric SUV, the EX60, has exceeded expectations, prompting the company to expand production to meet orders. The vehicle has performed exceptionally well in key markets such as Sweden and Germany, with retail orders far surpassing internal forecasts within just one month of its public debut.
Volvo Cars stated that the strong customer demand for the EX60 has led to an increase in production volume, particularly in its home market of Sweden. The company plans to boost EX60 production at its Torslanda plant in Sweden and is negotiating with unions to open for an additional week during the summer, which would be a first in the company's history. Chief Commercial Officer Erik Severinson said, "The number of customers ordering the EX60 in the first month exceeded our expectations; it's a good 'problem' to have. We are very encouraged to see such strong demand for our game-changing electric SUV. We are now reviewing our 2026 production plans in preparation for starting customer car production next month."
The order volume for the EX60 is significantly higher than that for the EX30, which was launched several years ago. This result is surprising because the EX30 is positioned for the mass market and has a lower cost. Currently, the EX60 is only available for order in Europe and has not yet entered the US market. Volvo Cars emphasized that it will prioritize ensuring high-quality production and steadily increase output to meet demand.
