Wedoany.com Report on Mar 11th, According to a forecast by Matt Bennett, co-founder of AgMarket.net, U.S. farmers may expand soybean acreage in 2026, a trend based on analysis of agricultural market conditions. He noted that soybean planting generally decreased across the United States last year, which provides the possibility for an acreage rebound this year.

Bennett mentioned that rising fertilizer costs are one of the factors driving the increase in soybean acreage. He explained, "Higher fertilizer prices also indicate that soybean acreage will increase." At the same time, farmers' financial conditions may influence planting decisions. He added, "Another factor I want to mention is the cash in farmers' hands. With lower investments, will this force some people to plant soybeans this year?"

Regarding corn, Bennett estimates that U.S. corn acreage in 2026 will be approximately 95 million acres, which is lower than last year. He stated, "This would be a decrease of 3.8. We have just had several consecutive years with almost no preventive planting acreage. If it ultimately reaches 95 million acres or less, I think this will support the market because if we encounter a year with preventive planting conditions, this market will be very sensitive." Despite strong corn demand and increased crop insurance subsidies potentially attracting some acreage back, he does not expect the planted area to approach last year's record of 98.8 million acres.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture plans to release the Prospective Plantings report for 2026 on March 31, which will provide more accurate acreage data. Overall, the projected growth in soybean acreage reflects dynamic adjustments in the agricultural market, while changes in corn acreage may impact market supply and demand.
