Wedoany.com Report on Mar 11th, The Nigerian Federal Government has approved a 100 billion Naira solar plan aimed at providing reliable electricity for public institutions across the country through the National Public Sector Solarization Initiative. The Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, Abba Aliyu, announced this while receiving the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Babatunde Adejumo, at the agency's headquarters in Abuja.Image related to the solar plan announcement

Aliyu stated that this solar plan, approved by President Bola Tinubu, primarily aims to address the persistent power challenges faced by government agencies, including insufficient power supply and rising costs. He explained that the plan is part of the Federal Government's broader efforts to expand electricity access through renewable energy solutions and has already been implemented in several key institutions, such as the Ministry of National Service, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, the National Hospital in Abuja, and educational institutions nationwide.

To ensure the effective deployment of solar mini-grid systems, the Rural Electrification Agency plans to conduct an energy audit at the Nigerian Law School to determine the appropriate system capacity. Aliyu added that the audit results will guide the sizing of the mini-grid and distribution network, ensuring the institution benefits from the solar plan. In response, Adejumo emphasized, "Stable electricity is crucial for the efficient operation of the judiciary, as modern legal training and research heavily depend on a continuous power supply." This solar plan is expected to enhance the reliability of electricity for Nigerian public institutions, supporting their daily operations and future development.
