Wedoany.com Report on Mar 18th, General Mills recently announced the relaunch of the La Tiara brand. This brand, originating from Kansas City, Missouri, known for its crispy taco shells and seasonings, will be available nationwide. This move brings investment to the local economy and is expected to create over 100 jobs.

La Tiara has cultivated a loyal consumer base in the American Midwest with its unique crispy taco shells. In January 2025, the original manufacturer, Gladstone Food Products, ceased operations, leading to the brand's temporary exit from the market, which garnered attention from its fans.
In May 2025, General Mills completed the acquisition of La Tiara and restarted the production facility located in Gladstone, Missouri. The company stated that consumer enthusiasm was a key factor in driving this transaction.
During the closure of the Gladstone plant, a Facebook group named "Bring Back La Tiara Taco Shells" attracted approximately 20,000 members who hoped to attract new investors through collective advocacy. General Mills took note of this market demand and decided to step in.
"We responded to the call of an incredibly dedicated group of local superfans," said Meredith Nelson Uram, Director of General Mills' Mexican Business Unit.
According to General Mills, La Tiara taco shells are made using traditional stone-ground corn masa, offering both yellow and white corn options to preserve the original flavor. In addition to the classic seasonings, the brand has introduced three new flavors: Chorizo, Tinga, and a low-sodium version.
