en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 21st, The NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a warning that increased geomagnetic activity, caused by a coronal mass ejection and high-speed solar wind, may make the aurora borealis visible this weekend in 18 U.S. states. According to the forecast, a geomagnetic storm reaching minor to moderate levels is possible from March 20 to 22, pushing the Northern Lights further south.
The states where the aurora may be visible include Alaska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Michigan, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Oregon, Wyoming, Iowa, Nebraska, New York, and Illinois. These areas are located entirely or partially above the forecasted visibility line, but aurora activity is highly variable, and actual visibility may differ depending on conditions.
NOAA predicts that geomagnetic activity will peak overnight on March 20-21, potentially triggering a moderate geomagnetic storm, before gradually subsiding to minor levels on March 22.
