en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 21st, Since its establishment in 2020, Lancashire-based developer Breck Homes has completed a total of 1,000 homes and now plans to add a new 64-unit affordable housing development near Bolshaw Road on the outskirts of Stockport. The company recently submitted a planning application to transform a 4.4-acre greenbelt site on the southern edge of Heald Green into a 100% affordable housing project. The site has been acquired unconditionally from a local landowner and is supported by Stockport Council's forthcoming local plan, which has already designated the land for affordable housing use.

According to the proposal, Breck Homes plans to build one- to four-bedroom affordable houses and apartments on the site, offering a diverse range of options including rental, rent-to-buy, and shared ownership. Upon completion, Breck's total affordable housing development portfolio will exceed 2,000 units, and the company is currently advancing relevant negotiations with registered provider partners. Phil Dolan, Managing Director for the Northwest region at Breck, stated: "House prices in Heald Green are significantly higher than the regional average, creating an urgent need for affordable housing among local residents. Our unconditional land purchase demonstrates our investment commitment, aiming to create a sustainable new community."

Phil Dolan emphasized that the project's planning strictly adheres to the affordable housing land allocation in Stockport's draft local plan, and public consultation was completed prior to submitting the application. "We look forward to working closely with local authorities and stakeholders to secure planning approval." He revealed that 2026 will be a key milestone for Breck's business expansion, and this development is only the first of several planned new affordable housing sites.
